Nancy Marie (McNeil) White, loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, grandmother, and friend to many passed peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 surrounded by her husband Edward H. White Sr. of Milford, MA and four children: Edward H. White Jr. of Medway, MA, Tracey Bonina of Milford, MA, Tara Mullen of Douglas, MA and Lisa Farese of Hopedale, MA.
Her life of faith, family and love began on May 7, when she was the first born (#1 McNeil) of eight children to Leo and Ruthie McNeil of Boston, MA. Much of her childhood was spent in Canton, MA where she enjoyed the antics of having six sisters and one brother. With pride, any of the McNeil children could list the siblings in order, and enjoyed reenacting the large photo frame that held the infant pictures of Nancy, Maureen, Dottie, Jeanne, Kathy, Paula, Leo and Terri. Canton also brought with it St. John’s elementary school and graduation from Canton High School in 1963.
Adulthood brought Nancy to work for the New Haven Railroad which also led her to meeting her husband of forty-nine years in the winter of 1967. In September of 1970, the two were married and began a family in Dedham. Irish triplets began the adventure, followed a few years later by the couple’s fourth child.
As a mom, Nancy raised Eddie, Tracey, Tara and Lisa to lead with love and have faith in God and family. Her persistence and resilience through rough times created a family that looks to one another for strength and above all, laughter. Her work in home health care for Primary Home Care set this example. Through faith-filled training, all members of her family learned the special skills that she was determined to share. Her daughter and sons-in-law Andrea White, Mike Bonina, Jay Mullen and Vincent Farese, as well as her eight grandchildren, learned to seek out winks from Papa Leo in the form of visits from cardinals or rainbows that let you know that God’s promise is not forgotten.
As a grandmother, Nancy (Ninny Nana) enjoyed every ounce of life. She not only told stories, but loved to listen and read about everyone else’s escapades. Having eight grandkids allowed her to burst with pride when she got to brag about Eddie, Antonia, Elizabeth, Christian, Camille, Grace, Amanda and Angelina. Whether it was showing off their pictures or just having them in her home, she adored being their Nana.
Nancy was a longtime communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Milford, where she also served as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered as a CCD teacher. She was an aspiring artist and poet and loved to play the game “Candy Crush”.
Along with her beloved husband, Nancy is survived by her four children: Edward H. White Jr. and his wife Andrea and their four children Edward III, Elizabeth, Christian and Amanda, all of Medway MA; Tracey, wife of Michael Bonina and their four daughters Antonia, Camille, Grace and Angelina, all of Milford, MA; Tara, wife of Jay Mullen of Douglas, MA; and Lisa, wife of Vincent Farese of Hopedale, MA. Also six siblings: Maureen and Tut D’attanasio of Canton, MA, Paula and Paul McCarthy of Canton, MA, Dottie and Joe Kelleher of Canton, MA, Kathy and Pat McCarthy of Mattapoisett, MA, Leo and Ginny McNeil of Franklin, MA and Terri and Steve Ivanoski of Canton, MA; also many nieces and nephews across the country and globe. She also was the sister of the late Jeanne McNeil of Canton, MA.
As the world turns and continues to pose challenges to traditional services, the family is asking for a celebration of a bold and beautiful life in a way that would surely make her smile. As she sips her Natty-Light with a glass of ice, we ask that you take some time with your thoughts and families and send along a memory in the form of a picture with a caption or a short video to celebrate a life well-lived and well loved. Emails can be sent to Lisa Farese at firstname.lastname@example.org .
