By MyFM’s John Wilbur - Uxbridge has chosen a new Chief of Police to lead the towns force, with the Board of Selectmen choosing Marc Montminy who was formerly the chief in Manchester, Connecticut. The Department has been under the watchful eye of acting chief Sgt. Timothy Burke and the Sgt. will continue to serve in that position until the new chief is sworn in. Chief Montminy is no stranger to the area, he was born in Cumberland Rhode Island and went to Milford High School. The new chief will make 110,000 dollars a year and he will begin his duties as soon as he is sworn in. There was support in favor of Sgt. Burke remaining in the position permanently after several residents had expressed their feelings about the position, forcing Selectmen to vote 3-2 to pause all hiring decisions back in July, that vote was rescinded just 9 days later and the decision to hire Mr. Montminy was made.
