The Hopkinton Board of Health will hold a public hearing tonight, to hear comments on and consider the adoption of two proposed tobacco regulations. The first is a very unique addition, under the town's tobacco permitting regulations where any permit not renewed either because a retailer no longer sells tobacco products or because a retailer closes the retail business would be returned to the Hopkinton Board of Health and that point the permit would be permanently retired by the Board. The second proposed regulation, under fees would have the Board issue two separate tobacco licenses. One would be for the sale of cigarettes, chew, snuff, cigar products and other non electric products. The second one would be for the sale of all e-cigarette products. The fee for both would be $100 a year. The public hearing is scheduled for tonight at the Hopkinton Senior Center beginning at six o’clock and if ultimately approved, both tobacco regulations would go into effect in about a month from now on March 16.
