By MyFM's Rick Michaels - Milford firefighters and firefighters from several surrounding communities helped battle a two alarm fire at an apartment house on East Street yesterday fortunately no injuries were reported. The blaze broke out shortly before 1:30 yesterday afternoon with several calls reporting a structure fire, with the back stairs to the apartment house at 23 East Street becoming engulfed in flames there were some tenants in the building at the time, all escaped safely. The home did sustain extensive fire and water damage there was heavy damage to the back of the building leaving the structure compromised, leading to the all out/evacuation tone from that point firefighters worked from outside the building. Mutual Aid came from Hopedale, Hopkinton, Bellingham, Franklin and Medway the Red Cross was
called to assist those displaced and the State Fire Marshall’s Office will be investigating the cause of the fire.
