By MyFM's Rick Michaels - The cost of building the Town of Northbridge’s first ever Fire Station is being pegged at somewhere around $19 million dollars and puts the cost to taxpayers depending on the value of your home the
interest rate the town secures and the number of years to pay the loan back in the neighborhood of an additional $200 a year in property taxes. The new location on Providence Road (Route 122), will improve the overall response time for firefighting calls. The current fire stations were buildings that were initially used for another purpose and converted into a fire station. In the months ahead there’s likely to more public forums like the one held in November to give residents more information and give them chance to ask questions about the project which will need approval from Northbridge voters at the annual town meeting and at the polls, during the Town Election in May.
