Return To In Person School Update From Milford Superintendent

Dear Milford Public Schools Families,

Today, I have four updates for you:

Return to In Person School Update

On January 14th, the Milford School Committee voted to return to in person hybrid school on February 1st.  Also, as communicated previously, our schedules will shift after February vacation beginning on Monday February 22nd where grades 5-12 will engage in a full room and ZOOM schedule and grades 1-4 will have synchronous classes based on grade level on each of the days that they are not scheduled to be in the building in person. As always, please be prepared both for the return to the hybrid schedule and the possibility of a continuation of remote learning. If there is a snow day throughout the rest of the winter season (and hopefully not the spring), also remember that we will have a full remote learning day.

Board of Health Vaccination Enrollment form

Below is a link to a form that will assist the Milford Board of Health in determining when individuals are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.

https://www.milfordma.gov/home/urgent-alerts/covid-19-vaccine-notification-form

Vaccine clinics will be held in a variety of settings, as the flu vaccine clinics are - at pharmacies, health care provider offices, and the Board of Health is working diligently to be able to offer vaccine clinics, as well. It is important to answer all of the questions on the form to ensure that you are notified accurately and as soon as possible as to when you can sign up to be vaccinated. I will continue to share more information as it becomes available.

Invitation to Speak at the Milford School Committee Meeting

This week we are offering and encouraging a ZOOM option for the invitation to speak portion of the Milford School Committee scheduled for January 28th at 7:00 pm.  If you are interested in participating in the invitation to speak portion of the meeting via ZOOM please reach out via email to mbullock@milfordma.com. Your name must appear on your ZOOM account exactly as you present it via email to Melissa Bullock or you will not be allowed into the ZOOM.  Please know that in person invitation to speak is also an option (we will have COVID-19 procedures in place where masks are required, one individual will be allowed into the meeting room at a time and those waiting will be lined up outside in the hallway and required to maintain six feet of distance).

Stacy Principal Search

On January 25th, we posted the job opening for the Stacy Middle School Principal.  Interview committees will be composed of faculty, parents, administrators, and school committee members.  Parent involvement on the interview committee is critical.  If you are interested please email mbullock@milfordma.com and indicate that you are a parent and what grade(s) your child or children are currently enrolled in this year.  We are prioritizing parents who are either current Stacy parents or will be enrolled in Stacy in the future.  There are a limited number of slots available. You must be available to participate in ZOOM interviews on both February 22nd and February 23rd from 5:00 pm until 8:30 pm. We will also host a forum for all parents to ask questions of our finalists. Dates and times for those events will follow.

I want to thank you for your continued flexibility and support of the Milford Public Schools.

Have a great evening!

Sincerely,

Kevin McIntyre

Superintendent
