NATIONAL - Boston Marathon icon Rick Hoyt has passed away. Rick, who was quadriplegic and had cerebral palsy, competed in the race for more than 40 years, being pushed in his wheelchair by his father Dick. On Monday his family confirmed Rick passed away after suffering complications with his respiratory system. In addition to breaking barriers in racing he also broke them in education as his mom Judy worked to change laws to allow Rick to be educated alongside his non-disabled peers. Rick Hoyt was 61.
