Hopedale selectmen tonight will reorganize because Chairperson Janet Jacaruso will be out on medical leave for several months and will relinquish that post and her position as town clerk. She met with coordinator Steve Sette last week to discuss the matter. He said there is no need, at this point, to do anything regarding the board as they still have a quorum with Bob Burns and Sandra Biaghetti. Although if that structure is maintained there is no third member to break a tie vote. Sette said Assistant Clerk Mary Draper, who held the elected position in the past will do it along with an interim person or others in town hall. Sette told WMRC that Jacaruso will be treated like any other employees. She has sick and vacation time she can use and short and long term disability insurance. FMLA would also apply. This is really a major issue that must be dealt with to make sure both important positions are filled Adequately.
