September Happenings at Milford Senior Center

The MILFORD SENIOR CENTER is open Monday thru Thursday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm; Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. & Sunday 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Special Events:

Law Enforcement & Fire Department Appreciation BreakfastTuesday, September 11 @ 9:30am. A special breakfast to thank our Police & Fire Departments for their dedication. There will be several guest speakers.  Free event

Senior Expo - Friday, September 21 @ 9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  Over 30 exhibitors with information for senior programs and services, Free Flu Clinic, Blood pressure screenings, free lunch for the first 200 seniors.  Several raffles will be given away and free entertainment throughout the day by Ron Auger!

Ongoing Monthly Events:

Adult Low Vision Support Group:  Thursday, September 6 @ 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. – The first Thursday of each month, the low vision support group meets and welcomes those who are experiencing vision loss or blindness.  A guest speaker from the Mass. Association for the Blind will be presenting.  If you would like to attend, please come to the Senior Center the first Thursday of each month. No Cost.

Book Club: Tuesday, September 18 @ 10:00 a.m. – “Girls Burn Brighter” by Shobha Rao.  An electrifying debut novel about the extraordinary bond between two girls driven apart by circumstance but relentless in their search for one another.   To reserve a copy of the book, please call the Milford Town Library’s Information Desk at 508-473-2145.

Healthy Living LuncheonThursday – September 27 @ 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.  Sponsored by Milford Regional Medical Center.  Topic: Palliative Care.  $5 refundable

MovieFriday, September 28 @ 12:30 p.m.  Darkest Hour - PG-13, 2hrs.  Winston Churchill's stirring defiance of the Nazi threat is the focus of this historical drama that depicts his fearless refusal to surrender Britain to Adolf Hitler and his relentless army during World War II's early days. Cast: Gary Oldman, Kristin Scott Thomas, Ben Mendelsohn.  No Cost.  BRING YOUR OWN LUNCH & FREE POPCORN

Men’s Group Meeting: Thursday, September 27.  Meet at the center @ 9:30 a.m.  Trip to CraftRoots Brewing. 


Granite State Chocolate & Wine Tour:  Thursday, October 4.  Tickets are $79.00.  Depart center at 8:30 a.m.  Arrive at the Sanborn Fine Candies in Hampton Beach voted the "Seacoast's Best Candy Shop."  You will then travel to Warren's Lobster House with entree choices of crab crusted salmon; top sirloin steak; ritzy filet of fresh haddock; or seafood Newburg.  Following lunch, you will visit the Jewell Towne Vineyard winner of the 2016 "Best Wine in NH Gold Medal" for a tour and wine tasting.  You will also have the opportunity to purchase some of the fine wines.  Return to the center approximately 5:30 p.m.

Holiday Boston Pops: Tentative date of Friday, December  7.  Tickets are $139.00.  You will depart the Center at 10:30 a.m. and travel into Boston for a wonderful luncheon at the Venezia Restaurant overlooking Boston Harbor. You will then travel along Boston Common to view the beautiful Christmas lights before arriving at Symphony Hall for a 4:00 p.m. matinee performance with a special appearance by Santa!  We will arrive back to the Center at approximately 7:00 p.m.  BE SURE TO SIGN UP EARLY.

Milford Senior Center Walkers:  Come and join our walking club.  We meet Monday through Friday at 8:00 a.m. at the Center to walk the Friends of the Milford Upper Charles Trail weather permitting.

Offsite Walks:  Friday, September 13 @ 9:30 a.m.  Assabet River Rail Trail & Friday, September 27 @ 9:30 a.m. Cape Cod Canal.  Space limited.  Sign up at the Senior Center.
