By MyFM's Rick Michaels - A Special Town Meeting in Hopkinton will be held tonight there are six articles on the warrant including a citizens petition, aimed at scrapping the entire Main Street Corridor Project. Article One if approved would rescind the vote taken at the 2018 Annual Town Meeting and order the Select Board to discontinue and cease all planning and work, on the Main Street Corridor Project. Supporters of the 15 million downtown improvement plan are hoping to begin work after the Boston Marathon in April, to improve traffic flow and safety along about a one mile stretch of Main Street. A citizens petition signed by some 370 residents, oppose certain easements of the project and say there’s been a lack of transparency. Hopkinton voters will also decide the fate of four-articles sponsored by the School Committee two articles deal with the High School Expansion project, one requesting $500,000 for Engineering and design services. The other theee articles will ask for funds for the construction of classrooms at Hopkinton High School and the installation of modular classrooms at Elmwood and Hopkins Schools following an unexpected spike in student enrollment this school year. The Hopkinton Special Town Meeting begins at seven o’clock tonight at the Middle School Auditorium.
