Stephen Blanding, 64, of Whitinsville passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday May 8, 2016 after a period of declining health.

Stephen is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Claudia (Kenadek) Blanding, his daughter Cristina (Blanding) Stacy and her husband Glenn of Whitinsville, his son Matthew Blanding and his wife Lee-Anne of Whitinsville, his brother Robert Blanding and his wife Ann of Bolton, MA and his brother Thomas Blanding of Acton, MA. He leaves behind his 5 beloved grandchildren who meant the world to him: Allyson, Emily and Xavier Blanding and Kyle and Katelyn Stacy as well as several nieces and nephews, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Donald and Clara Kenadek and his sister-in-law Jane Provost.

He was raised in Grafton, the son of the late Harry R. Blanding and Georgina (Smail) Blanding.

Mr. Blanding owned and operated Blackstone Valley Lock and Safe in Uxbridge for the past 29 years. He enjoyed the many relationships with his coworkers and valued their friendship.

Stephen was happiest spending time with his family- especially on the beach on Cape Cod every summer.

The family would like to thank the teams at UMASS Memorial Medical Center and Milford Hospital as well as the nurses at the VNA for their care and support.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday May 11, 2016 from 4-7 PM in the BUMA FUNERAL HOME, 101 N. Main St., Rte. 122, Uxbridge.

Funeral services will be held Thursday May 12, 2016 at 11 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Granite St., Uxbridge.

Memorial donations in memory of Stephen may be made to the charity of one's choice

Margaret Anna (Nesbitt) Nelson, 91, of Banbridge, Co. Down, Northern Ireland, formerly of Douglas died Tuesday, May 3, 2016.

She was the wife of the late Donald H. Nelson who died in 1999. They were happily married for 53 years.

Mrs. Nelson was a Teacher's Aide at the Douglas Elementary School for 18 years retiring in 1988. She had previously worked at the former Whitin Machine Works and Paul Revere Insurance Company.

Mrs. Nelson was born June 19, 1924 in Whitinsville, a daughter of the late William and Sarah A. (Fowler) Nesbitt. She was a longtime resident of Douglas and graduated from Douglas High School in 1943. For the past 10 years she resided in Northern Ireland with her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Donald and Sherry Nelson. Mrs. Nelson enjoyed music, crafts, and puzzle books.

She was a member of the West Sutton Baptist Church, the Young at Hearts Club of the Whitinsville Methodist Church, and the Douglas Senior Center. She was a former member of the Douglas Methodist Church for more than 60 years. Mrs. Nelson was a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Miriam Chapter and Past Deputy Grand Marshal of the Order of the Eastern Star of Massachusetts. She was also active in the Salvation Army, Quinsigamond Corps.

Mrs. Nelson is survived by two sons, Donald W. Nelson of Banbridge, Northern Ireland and David J. Nelson of Cumbria, England. She also leaves three grandchildren, Geoffrey, Jeremy and Heather as well as several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, William A. Nesbitt and Thomas J. Nesbitt and two sisters, Mary J. Macomber and Sarah Hoogendyk.

Funeral services will be in the Buma Funeral Home, 480 Church St., Whitinsville. A calling hour will be Wednesday, May 11, 2016 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm, followed by a service at 1:00 pm. There will be an Eastern Star Service at 12:30 pm. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Whitinsville.
