Stop & Shop And Union Come To A Tentitive Agreement

By MyFM's Rick Michaels - The Union representing Stop and Shop workers says it has reached an agreement with the company, on a new contract, which means the 31,000 employees who walked off their jobs ten days ago will go back to work this morning. Striking workers at Stop and Shop stores in Milford and Franklin were among those ready for a prolonged walk out with the feeling by some, if the company and union couldn’t come to an agreement in the days before Easter Sunday, one of the busiest times of the year, the strike would then drag on. However a resolution was worked out last night it’s a tentative agreement workers need to vote on it, but the Union says it does preserve health care and retirement benefits, with wage increases and time and a half for workers on Sunday. The company says the three year agreement worked out yesterday, means workers will be restocking the stores beginning this morning.
