By MyFM's Rick Michaels - The first of three public hearings was held last night in Uxbridge where town officials are putting on a full court press, to make sure residents are aware of the financial importance of a Special Town Meeting, scheduled for early next month. Financial statements and audits over several years, were not completed and filed with the state and it’s been determined the town needs to transfer about 145-thousand dollars from the stabilization account to fix what has been described as a financial crisis. In particular is the need to approve the transfer of funds and complete forms, to ensure the town doesn’t lose any state funding, such as Chapter 70 School Funding or Chapter 90 road and bridge work. Uxbridge voters will be asked to approve Article 1 of a Special Town Meeting on February 5th to also have the town’s free cash certified for 2019. The Finance Committee and the Board of Selectmen say the public hearings for tonight and tomorrow night will begin at 6:30 at Uxbridge Town Hall.
