By MyFM's Rick Michaels - The first of two Special Town Meetings to be held in Milford this month will take place tonight, with Town Meeting members deciding on a single article on the warrant dealing with recall elections. The citizens petition is aimed at amending, an Act Providing for Recall Elections in Milford so instead of
requiring signatures of 20% of the town's registered voters to certify a recall vote it would only require 10%. Then in order for the results of the election to be certified instead of 25% of registered voters needing to cast a ballot the requirement would be 15%. The current percentages of 20% and 25% are believed to be too high when voter turnout struggles to reach 20%. A recent campaign to recall Milford Selectman Will Kingkade failed to collect the number of signatures needed, to move the process along. Milford Town Meeting members vote on this one-article tonight at Town Hall, beginning at seven o’clock another Special Town Meeting, which may feature as many as 40 articles will be held.
