The Hopkinton Police Department Is Requesting Businesses And Organizations To Help Fight Crime

By MyFM's Rick Michaels - The Hopkinton Police Department is requesting businesses and organizations that have security cameras in place on their property to help police in fighting crime, by taking part in the Hopkinton Business Camera Registry. In a letter to residents on the town website Hopkinton Police say crime prevention is a cooperative effort between police and those they serve and with the help of this Registry police will be able to more quickly identify the locations of nearby video cameras to help collect video evidence and follow up on leads. Becoming part of the Hopkinton Business Camera Registry does not provide the police department with direct access to your surveillance cameras at all times, it allows access to police who are investigating a crime a particular crime, in the vicinity of where your cameras may be located. Registering is voluntary, there’s no cost, businesses would need to fill out a short registration form, more information is available on the town website.
