The Patriots Are Playing In The Teams Record 11th Super Bowl Sunday

By MyFM's John Wilbur - The Patriots are gearing up for their final game of the season and as it has been for the last three years in a row and  for four of the last five years their final game is the biggest of the year, it’s the Super Bowl. The Patriots answered all the questions we had back in week 17 when they were finishing up the regular season with a win over the Jets. New England than went on to top the Chargers in the first round of the playoffs. All of the questions about all of the weapons were answered with “The Gronk” Rob Gronkowski having one of the best games of his season and Julian Edelman going off for a career day. Not only were Gronk and Edelman getting the job done but everyone was doing their job. Sony Michelle was great as was James white in the run game with rex Burkhead contributing to the ground game as well. Tom Brady was again himself leading the team as he has done so many times to the victory. Than came Kansas City and the Rookie QB Patrick Mahomes. The Patriots went into this one with a chip on their shoulder and it was well deserved as the doubters and haters came out in droves to see the new young sensation and the older wiser master of the game go at it for the second time this season. The Patriots got off to a great start taking the ball and most of the first quarter the distance of the field to go up by a touchdown. The Pats would take a 14 nothing lead into the locker room at the half. But this is a game of adjustments and this time it was Andy Reed and the Chiefs who made them better. The Rookie Mahomes would bring his team back and take the lead before the Pats could tie it up in the fourth despite a barrage of flags and two picks in the second half by the G.O.A.T. (Tom Brady) If not for an interception back in the first the Patriots would have had a 21 nothing lead going into the break but Brady’s pass ended up in the Chiefs hands in the end zone when a pass intended for Gronkowski went behind the big tight end. But with regulation ticking away this one would go into overtime and again Tom Brady would lead a game winning drive thanks in part to Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski, Chris Hogan, and Phillip Dorsett and don’t forget the great running game put on by the backs James White, Sony Michelle, and Rex Burkhead who would score the game winning touchdown to send the Patriots to their third Super Bowl in a row! This has been a team who has over come injury, suspensions and just the overall hatred of the rest of the country outside of New England. They’re still here and their getting ready to play in the franchises 11th overall Super Bowl and the Goats 9th. The Combination of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick has withstood the sands of time but more importantly it’s the system that Bill and the coaching staff have been able to keep the same over the years that works. Like they say “if it ain’t broken don’t fix it”! So with Tom Brady at the helm and and all of his weapons healthy, sharpened and ready for battle the Patriots will go into Atlanta a two point favorite over a Rams team no-one thinks belongs, after a horrible display of officiating in last weeks NFC championship game with the Saints. But the Rams can’t be taken lightly with a powerful offense led by a young Jared Goff and a strong defense that helped the Rams to a 13 and 3 record with the youngest head coach in the league calling the plays in Sean McVay. It’s sure to be a game for the ages with both teams healthy and all-in for the final game of the year in the NFL. Seventeen years later to the date the Patriots and the Rams will play for the Lombardi Trophy again, this time in Atlanta starting at 6:40 Sunday night, listen right here on 101.3 MyFM.
