By MyFM's Rick Michaels - The Town of Uxbridge is moving closer to fixing the town’s recent financial crisis as the town manager and treasurer are working to complete various tasks and several accounting issues are being addressed. Uxbridge Town Manager Angie Ellison has released a financial plan update recapping what has happened since early December, when the State Division of Local Services met with town officials, and citing turnover in staff in the financial departments and incomplete audits for numerous years. They then notified the town it would not certify free cash, placing certain restrictions until corrective measures are completed. Ellison says the list of work to be done is on-going, several matters have been completed, however the final step will be the need for voters to approve a transfer of about 145-thousand dollars from the stabilization account to fund the town’s financial shortfalls. Uxbridge residents will vote to make that transfer of funds, at a Special Town Meeting slated for Tuesday night February 5th.
