From the Office of Milford Police Chief James F. Falvey
MILFORD - Police Chief James Falvey, Milford Fire Chief Mark Nelson and Senior Center Director Sue Clark are pleased to announce that the Milford Police Department, the Milford Senior Center and Milford Fire Department are expanding our program offering free rides to and from vaccination appointments for Milford residents 65 years and older on a limited daily basis to vaccine locations in town. Milford currently has two vaccination sites in town.
Please note we will be following all health and safety protocols during this program. We ask that masks will be worn at all times during the ride to and from the appointment. Cruisers are equipped with barriers already to help protect residents and officers. Vehicles will be disinfected before and after each ride. Members of the same household with appointments that are near the same time at the same location will be able to ride together. The officers will wait for residents at the appointment location in order to bring them home afterwards.
Residents will need to set up their own appointment before requesting a ride and have confirmation. Unfortunately the Milford Police Department is unable to assist residents with setting up their appointments. If residents need assistance in setting up their appointments the Milford Senior Center has offered to help. Please give them a call at 508-473-8334. Those with any questions about the ride service may contact the police department directly anytime.
Residents have two ways to schedule a vaccine appointment. One way is through a new statewide Unite Way 211 hotline. It can be accessed by dialing 2–1–1 and selecting the prompt for “Help Scheduling a Vaccine Appointment.” Calls can be made Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Translators will also be available to help through the 211 hotline. Callers will be able to speak with a live representative who will help them find a nearby vaccination location and make an appointment. The second way to schedule an appointment is online through the state’s website: https://www.mass.gov/info-details/covid-19-updates-and-information.
Those residents who wish to request a ride may call the Milford Police Department at 508-473-1113 ext. 0 and speak to a dispatcher. We do ask for at least a 2 day notice for rides. Citizens may also call the Milford Senior Center at 508-473-8334 to arrange for a ride.
