It's time again for another season of Upton's 2015 Summer Concerts at Kiwanis Beach. Each concert begins at 6pm. Hot dogs, burgers, sausage and drinks will be available for purchase at each show.
June 18th: The Mac Odom Band
Come join us for some Old School Funk, R&B, and Pop with this incredible band from Rhode Island! Mac kicked off his professional career at the age of 15 playing bass with James Brown and Joe Tex while recording 2 albums with TK records. He moved to Rhode Island where he was the lead singer for the 5 time Grammy nominated band Roomful of Blues. They recorded 3 full albums and toured internationally from 1998-2002. Later, Mac joined the Eastside Horns, led by trumpet great John Allmark, and eventually formed his own group in 2008, the Mac Odom Band. For this concert, enjoy a complementary meal of either a hot dog, burger, or sausage, chips and a drink!
June 25th: Classic Groove
This talented group performs a variety of styles including Jazz, R&B, Top 40, and Latin. Classic Groove's band leader, Steve Tashjian began playing music at age 10. After studying at the Boston Conservatory, he joined with Alissa Coates, Karen Ranieri and Gretchen Bostrom, lead vocalists, Lee Lundy, bass guitarist, Paul Dillon and Dave Dillon, drummers, Ross Hahn and Mark Michaels, guitarists, and Face, on keyborad to form Classic Groove. July 9th: Overdrive Horns
Come dance with this 8-person group who performs dance music from the past three decades as well as music by Chicago, Tower of Power, the Average White Band and all the number one brass-rock hits. This band has an incredibly funky rhythm section as well as a four-piece horn section featuring two trumpets, woodwinds, and trombone. Check out this group HERE!
July 16th: Juke Joint 5
Join us on the 16th for some old school Electric Blues from this Boston-based Group! This group formed several years ago with members all committed to "old school, no-nonsense, house-rocking rhythm&blues." Three of the band members, Gretchen Bostrom, Silverstone Steve, and Dick "The Poet" Lourie, were old pro blues musicians down in Mississippi. Check them out HERE!
July 23rd: The Shana Stack Band
This country band focuses on top 40 country and recently won Band of the Year by the New England Music Awards and Country Artist of the Year by Limelight Magazine! Shana Stack, the band leader, is a Multi-National Award winning lead singer. The band recently released their fourth album "Then and Now" which has been playing not only on US radio but all over Europe. They have opened for Reba McEntire, Sugarland, The Band Perry, Rascal Flatts, and Chuck Wicks. Check them out HERE!
July 30th: Noah Lis
The recent contestant on The Voice is a singer, songwriter and pianist. Lis grew up in Western MA and began singing at the age of 3. Throughout High School, he participated in marching, symphonic and jazz bands while playing the alto, tenor and soprano saxophone. After being named one of "Western Massachusetts Most Talented Teens," he auditioned for American Idol three times and performed in America's Got Talent before performing on Blake Shelton's team on The Voice. Now at the age of 23 is a senior Music Major at Westfield State University. Check him out HERE!
