Upton Residents Decide No On Pot Shops

By MyFM's Rick Michaels - Residents of Upton deciding to prohibit retail Marijuana shops from locating in the town and also voting yesterday, deciding between three candidates running for a seat on the Board of Selectmen. Only about 15-percent of the town's voters went to the polls following up the results at Town Meeting, and deciding by a vote of 442 to 348 to prohibit Marijuana Retailers in Upton. The By-Law had to be approved at Town Meeting and at the Town Election because Upton in November of 2016, approved the state allowing the sale of Adult Use Marijuana. In a three-way for a seat on the Board of Selectmen, the only contested race on the ballot all three candidates had strong support but in the end Maureen Dwinnell won out with 293 votes, to Michelle Antinarelli’s 265 votes, with David Ross finishing third with 263-votes.
