At their April 26 meeting, the Milford Democratic Town Committee elected Lauren M. Wilton as chair by acclamation. A Milford resident for 16 years and a lifelong Democrat, Attorney Wilton chairs the Milford DTC's bylaw subcommittee and has represented Milford at Democratic State Conventions both as a disabled "add-on" delegate and as an elected delegate.
"I look forward to continuing the committee’s efforts to increase Milford’s equity, accessibility and inclusivity, and to combat divisive disinformation," Wilton said.
In addition to her involvement with the Milford DTC, Wilton also serves as a town meeting member representing Precinct 5. In this role, Wilton sponsored the warrant article updating the name of the town executive body to “Select Board”, which passed overwhelmingly in January 2021. She also spearheaded last year's push for remote participation at Town Meeting, making it more accessible to members considered high-risk to severe illness or death from COVID-19.
Wilton replaces Bryan Cole, who stepped down after winning a position on the Milford Planning Board in this month's town election.
"I'm proud of the work we've done as a committee in my time as chair," Cole said. "I have no doubt Lauren will build off our recent successes."
Committee membership is open to any Milford resident registered as a Democrat. Anyone interested in joining can find more information about upcoming meetings and events through the Milford DTC's Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages, @MilfordMaDTC, or by emailing email@example.com.
