Wood Chipper Slams Into Mendon Home

By MyFM's Rick Michaels - An elderly Mendon couple were able to escape injury yesterday when a wood chipper machine became detached from a truck on Providence Street, slammed into a telephone pole and then crashed into the couples’ home. 90-year old Malcolm Clifton and his wife were not in the living room when the huge wood chipper destroyed a section of the home. Mendon Police are investigating the cause of the accident as the wood chipper disconnected from a truck, hit a utility pole and then crashed through the Clifton's living room, destroying everything in sight there’s been no estimate on the amount of damage done. However the President of Charles River Bank, Jack Hamilton says the Mendon Branch of the bank is setting up a fund to help the Cliftons.
